Foodborne Pathogens

“Detection of Foodborne Pathogens” is a key technique that employs a series of technological methods to conduct qualitative or quantitative analysis of pathogenic microorganisms in food, such as ‘Salmonella’, ‘Staphylococcus aureus’, and ‘Escherichia coli’. Traditional detection primarily relies on bacterial culture and biochemical identification, which are often cumbersome and time-consuming. In contrast, modern rapid detection technologies such as quantitative PCR (qPCR) have significantly enhanced detection sensitivity, speed, and throughput. As a critical component of end-to-end food quality control and safety supervision, this testing not only provides technical support for quality assurance in food enterprises but also offers scientific basis for regulatory authorities in risk prevention, control, and contamination source tracing—ultimately safeguarding consumer dietary health.

Pangaea IMX Pathogens Detection System

This system innovatively integrates immunomagnetic bead separation and purification technology with solid-state microsphere-based real-time PCR technology. On an automated platform, it completes magnetic bead enrichment, purification, and fluorescence PCR detection of pathogens. Paired with automated interpretation software, it directly displays positive or negative results. This significantly streamlines the operational workflow, creating an end-to-end automated solution from sample to result, with reliable reports available within just 2 hours.
Designed specifically for complex food matrices, the system notably enhances detection sensitivity and specificity, serving as an efficient complement and innovative advancement over traditional national standard methods.
Key Features
● Ultra-Fast & Efficient
Core detection takes only about 2 hours after enrichment, delivering significantly higher efficiency compared to traditional methods.
● Accurate Live Bacteria Detection
Specifically identifies viable bacteria, eliminating interference from dead bacterial DNA and preventing false positives.
● 6-Color Fluorescence Channel
6-color fluorescence channels provide flexibility for single or multiplex detection needs.
● Pre-Filled Dry Reagents
Room temperature storage and transport, fully pre-filled reagents for easy operation, and zero contamination throughout the process.

Significantly streamlining operational procedures to create a fully automated solution from sample to result.

Step 1:One-step enrichment

GMO_Step 1
Modified selective enrichment broth can both repair damaged bacteria and inhibit miscellaneous bacteria.
One-step cultivation achieves enrichment of the target pathogenic bacteria in the sample, with simple and rapid operation.
Salmonella spp.: 18–24 hours.
Cronobacter spp.: 15–24 hours.
E. coli O157: 6–8 hours.
Aspergillus/Bacillus spp.: 30–48 hours.

Step 2:Immunomagnetic Bead Enrichment and Purification

GMO_Step 2
Removes interfering substances from the sample, concentrates the target pathogenic bacteria, and yields a purified sample for testing.
  • The instrument automatically completes the entire process of immunomagnetic bead capture, washing, and purification.
  • Capable of processing 16 samples simultaneously in a single run.
  • Specifically captures viable target bacteria, effectively avoiding false positives caused by residual DNA from dead bacteria.
  • Simultaneously removes PCR inhibitors such as fats and proteins from food samples, ensuring detection sensitivity and accuracy.
  • Utilizes disposable consumables and includes a built-in UV sterilization device to effectively prevent cross-contamination.

Step 3:Real-time Fluorescent PCR Detection

GMO_Step 3
Utilizes pathogen-specific primers and probes for rapid detection of the presence or absence of pathogenic bacteria.
  • Uses pre-packaged solid microsphere reagents; only template addition is required. Closed-tube operation prevents contamination.
  • Six-color fluorescence channels provide flexibility for single or multiplex detection needs.
  • Built-in internal amplification control (IAC) automatically monitors the process to ensure reliable results.
  • Software automatically interprets data and directly outputs "positive/negative" conclusions along with a comprehensive report.
